Mary Fowler’s father was Oswald Fowler, Crimeboss of Paradise Falls. He was assassinated before her eyes at the age of eight. She grew up in her mother Sally’s bordello/night club. At twenty-three she met and fell in love with crusading District Attorney Max Dunn, unaware he was the crime-fighting vigilante known as Red Mask. Shortly after, Max was murdered. Mary believes at the hands of corrupt government officials. With Sally’s help she creates the persona of Mary Widow, a lethal femme fatale who is out to avenger her lover’s death.

Paradise Falls: Issue #2 continues with an engaging story by veteran writer, Ron Fortier. After the murder and burial of her husband in issue #1, the Merry Widow, daughter of a notorious gangster, sets out for revenge. With her widowed mother, the Merry Widow sets out on a series of vengeance killings. The gorgeous and tough Detective Angel begins to dog the deadly woman. Excellent writing and plot development in this issue. The artwork by John Williams is reminiscent of the 1920’s New York Times artwork, and compliments the futurist technocracy quite well.
