This sixth issue of From the Heart closes out the first year of the series. It includes the stories Cat Vs Cat, Dreams of Michelangelo, and two poem-comics. Cat Vs Cat depicts an epic slap-battle between two house-cats. Dreams of Michelangelo tells the story of Drew, a young trans man who longs for the sculpted perfection of Michelangelo’s sculptures, and the dream that may bring him a step closer to finding himself. Please note that as this comic includes some facsimiles of Michelangelo’s sculptures, it does include nudity. The poem-comics are part of a series called Five Seven Five. They are three-panel comics loosely based on the haiku format.

The “From the Heart” comics series collects various short comics by writer/artist Althea Keaton. Most of these short stories are of the “slice of life” variety, focusing on characters, events, and moments that have a true to life feel, though some stories venture into stranger territories. What unites these stories? Quality art and quality writing that comes straight from the heart.
