What It's About

Exploring the infinite universe of Independent Comics! Join us for a landmark issue and some tributes. On November 10, 2019, we wrapped a once in a lifetime interview with Indie/Gay Comix Legend Howard Cruse (May 2, 1944 -November 26, 2019), famed American alternative cartoonist known for the exploration of gay themes in his comics, the founding editor of Gay Comix in 1980. He also created the gay-themed strip Wendel and graphic novel Stuck Rubber Baby. On November 26, 2019 we were informed of his tragic passing after a battle with cancer. This interview with ICC Magazine is Howard Cruse’s very last interview. Howard was thrilled at how we presented this vivid pictorial window into his life, and we are honored to have shared this brief time with him. His impact on the invention of the modern graphic novel is one that Indie comics creators should celebrate forever after. Our team also spotlights the art and projects of Lauren A. R. Masterson, the incredible work of Richard H. Stephens, Controversy! Tempests in Teapots: A Commentary on #Comicsgate, In Memoriam: The life of Mandi artist Shawn Surface, The 2020 ICC Magazine Holiday Gift Guide and much, much more! Let your light shine this holiday season!!
