In Book One, Lazarus is unwillingly brought back from the dead by Jesus. As he sets of to kill himself, he accidentally develops a cult following.
A dark comic retelling of the classic Biblical story of death and resurrection. After being unwillingly brought back from purgatory by Jesus, Lazarus becomes immortal. Lazarus hates living in Biblical times, preferring the cold dark nothingness of purgatory to a world where pork is illegal. He tries to kill himself, but nothing works. We follow Lazarus to the mid-1990s, where he lives in a dying steel town called Impasse,Pennsylvania. There, Lazarus accidentally discovers his ability to resurrect the dead. With the help of his metalhead roommate and the reanimated corpse of his favorite musician, Lazarus embarks on a mission to force heaven to notice him, so he can finally die. He does this by committing sin after sin, setting his sights on hypocritical religious figures, celebrity cults and anyone who gets in his way. Black + white with color front and back covers.
